Rob Tacey and Bryn Gray represent Blackwell in the Hillsborough to the Humber Charity Cycle Ride

Commercial Manager, Rob Tacey and Contracts Manager, Bryn Gray recently took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the Hillsborough to the Humber Charity Cycle Ride.

Taking place over 3 days from the 9th to the 11th of June, the cycling event covered a 210 mile route from Hillsborough in Northern Ireland to Grimsby - a journey which was to be completed in 3 stages. Bryn began his journey on the second day outside Liverpool's Malmaison Hotel and Rob joined him the following day to complete the final leg of the journey from Barnsley to Grimsby.

The Blackwell Riders joined Graham Construction's in-house cycling team for the event - for whom Blackwell is currently carrying out specialist earthworks and civil engineering services to construct the berthing facility for the Green Port Hull wind turbine manufacturing plant. They were joined along the way by staff from Graham Construction's joint venture partner, Lagan Construction and client, Associated British Ports.

Proceeds raised from the event will be split between CAT Zero, a charitable organisation providing employment, education and training opportunities for unemployed young people in the Humber region and Humber's 2015 Charity of the Year, the Motor Neurone Disease Association. In total, the efforts of the cycling team raised approximately £50,000 for the two charities and a substantial contribution was donated by Blackwell and its workforce.
